Mental health is now a serious issue because of long isolation due to the covid-19 pandemic. In this pandemic, many have taken their own lives while fighting depression, loneliness, and anxiety. We have many people around us who are in depression and suffering from mental illness in their way. We can't distinguish between a depressed person or a normal person because some don't show the symptoms and some behave weirdly after triggering this illness.
So, to help people in person, scientists and researchers have found a technical way to implement a Mental health chatbot. An Artificial Intelligence that provides sympathy and a listener to those who are feeling alone.
A Robot understands a person's intentions and emotions behind their message and they are built by unique codes to reply in a way that looks loveable and help the humans out to get rid of the depression, like asking questions such as " why are you depressed?".
The first AI chatbot was ELIZA founded in 1966 by computer scientist Joseph Weizenbaum. ELIZA was the computer program in which we have to write our messages and that was replying accordingly.
In this way, AI chatbot technology is really becoming a helpful tool for curing mental illness by mentoring, guiding, and keeping busy in other activities. Like, feeling wheel, breathing exercise, and other day-to-day activities.
